Making Student Wellbeing A Priority
Supporting the academic needs of students in Higher Education (HE) and Further Education (FE) settings, with cognitive processing and Specific Learning Difficulties, through professional psychological diagnostic assessments.
Assessment of Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) in students
Academia is a high-pressure environment that many individuals struggle to adjust to, particularly if they experience Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD). At YPS Psychology we specialise in identification of underlying abilities (IQ), cognitive weaknesses (working memory, processing speed, phonological processing), literacy needs, problems with attention and hyperactivity, writing and motor coordination deficits, numeracy difficulties, and organisation/time management issues. We help students apply for the support they need to address a range of conditions, including dyslexia, ADHD, dyspraxia and dyscalculia so they can progress successfully through their course and reach their potential.
We also provide SpLD assessments for students with autism. From our experience working closely with individuals on the autism spectrum we recognise how important it is to administer tests in a sensitive manner. Our assessments are also amenable to students with English as an Additional Language (EAL). We give careful consideration of linguistic and cultural variations among EAL students that may adversely affect their test performance.
Our diagnostic SpLD assessment reports provide the medical evidence necessary for students to apply for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA).
